The event was<br \/>\nattended by more than 100 participants, both in person and online. This phase<br \/>\nbrings together an expanded network of partner organizations, countries, and<br \/>\nproject initiatives aimed at advancing sustainable plastic consumption across<br \/>\nthe region. A two-day capacity-building workshop was held on 16-17 October<br \/>\n2024, alongside the launch event, to partner organizations for project<br \/>\nimplementation from January to August 2025.<\/p>\n<p>At the<br \/>\nevent, Mr Reo Kawamura, Director of the Regional Knowledge Centre for Marine<br \/>\nPlastic Debris, emphasized, &#8220;The case studies will equip provide policymakers,<br \/>\nbusinesses, and civil society with practical skills for behavior-focused<br \/>\nprojects. Combining Behavioural Insights with strong policies and cross-sector<br \/>\npartnerships will drive the changes needed to reduce plastic waste and promote<br \/>\nsustainability in ASEAN.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Building<br \/>\non the achievements of the previous project, Phase II extends the project to<br \/>\nsix Southeast Asian countries, broadening the scope and diversity of<br \/>\ninitiatives. These new projects will be implemented by a wide range of organizations,<br \/>\noriginating from academic, governmental, business, and civil society background.<br \/>\nThe initiative also introduces a new measurement framework designed to evaluate<br \/>\nthe impact of &#8216;nudge&#8217; interventions, providing practical tool for policymakers<br \/>\nand stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>Representatives<br \/>\nfrom the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of Indonesia stated \u201cCivil<br \/>\nsociety movements promoting initiatives such as behavioural insights can<br \/>\nsupport government efforts to manage waste sustainably. I hope the success of<br \/>\nthis project can be scaled up and implemented in other regions of Indonesia.\u201d The<br \/>\nexpanded Phase II projects will use Behavioural Insights to complement existing policies, such<br \/>\nas bans and taxes<\/p>\n<p>As ASEAN<br \/>\ngrapples with the global challenge of plastic pollution, Phase II of the<br \/>\nproject reaffirms the collective commitment to fostering sustainable, long-term<br \/>\nchange.
