The DC-CFA2 Allocation: Four Operators, One Standard
On 21 August 2026, Singapore’s Economic Development Board and Infocomm Media Development Authority provisionally allocated 200 MW of new data centre capacity to four operators: Digital Realty, Equinix, Keppel Data Centres, and ST Telemedia Global Data Centres—50 MW each.
This represents approximately 12% of Singapore’s total data centre capacity. More than 20 proposals were received from local and global players.
The Green Energy Pathways
The awarded operators committed to exceeding the minimum sustainability requirements. Each will power more than 50% of their data centre capacity from green energy sources. Eligible pathways include biomethane, low-carbon ammonia, low-carbon hydrogen, and vertical building-integrated or building-applied photovoltaics (BIPV/BAPV).
More than half of this capacity will be powered by Singapore-based low-carbon power generation from BIPV/BAPV and fuels such as biomethane, ammonia, and hydrogen—drawn primarily from the national grid, supplemented by on-site solar.
Liquid Cooling: 30% Energy Reduction
The four data centres must adopt liquid cooling, which uses fluids to transfer heat from hardware chips and can reduce energy consumption at the data centre level by over 30% compared to traditional air cooling. They must also use 100% energy-efficient IT equipment and meet Green Mark Data Centres Platinum Certification.
Jurong Island: The Low-Carbon DC Park
JTC is developing a low-carbon data centre park on Jurong Island to leverage potential low-carbon technology synergies within the island’s ecosystem. All DC-CFA2-supported facilities will locate there.
